This picture was taken during the 5th International Conference of Liturgy and Sacred Art held in the Vatican Urban University and was organized by the Benedictine Institute of Saint Anslem – Rome, October 1999
Juan Plazaola SJ, specialist in Sacred Art, defined Fray Gabriel and Jaime Domínguez´s art as Neo Byzantine, the title adopted to define the plastic style and content produced by these two artists.
The Neo Byzantine style strives to reflect the mysteries the work presents rather then the formal perfection. It is the narration of the contents of the Sacred Scriptures shown through symbols, forms and colors, etc.
